Gather Your Tools and Materials
 

• New cabin air filter (part number can be found in the owner's manual or by asking an auto parts store)
• Phillips-head screwdriver
• Flat-head screwdriver or a trim removal tool (optional)
• Protective gloves (optional)

 
Locate the Cabin Air Filter Housing
 

The cabin air filter is typically located behind the glove compartment. You'll need to empty and remove the glove box to access it.

 
Remove the Glove Box
 

• Open the glove box and empty its contents.
• Locate the damper arm on the right side of the glove box. Use a flat-head screwdriver or your hands to disconnect it.
• Push in on both sides of the glove box to release the stops and allow it to drop down completely.

 
Access the Filter Housing
 

Once the glove box is out of the way, you should see the cabin air filter housing cover.

 
Remove the Filter Housing Cover
 

• Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the filter housing cover in place.
• Gently pull off the cover and set it aside.

 
Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter
 

• Slide the old air filter out of its slot. Note the orientation of the filter, often indicated by an airflow direction arrow on the side of the filter.
• Take this moment to clean out any debris in the filter housing using a cloth or handheld vacuum.

 
Install the New Cabin Air Filter
 

• Slide the new cabin air filter into the slot, making sure it is oriented correctly according to the airflow direction arrow.

 
Reattach the Filter Housing Cover
 

• Place the filter housing cover back over the opening and secure it with the screws you previously removed.

 
Reinstall the Glove Box
 

• Lift the glove box back into its original position.
• Push in both sides of the glove box to move past the stops and close it partway.
• Reconnect the damper arm on the right side.
• Close the glove box fully.

 
Test the New Filter
 

• Turn on your vehicle's HVAC system and make sure the airflow is improved.

 
Dispose of the Old Filter Properly
 

• Place the old filter in a plastic bag and dispose of it according to local environmental regulations.
