Engine and Powertrain

• The 2023 BMW 3 Series 330i is equipped with a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine, producing 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
• In contrast, the 330e features a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine with an integrated electric motor. This setup delivers a combined output of 288 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque when utilizing BMW’s XtraBoost feature.

Acceleration and Performance

• The 330i can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 5.6 seconds, offering a responsive and engaging driving experience.
• The hybrid 330e, capitalizing on its electric motor's immediate torque delivery, matches the 330i's 0-60 mph time and often boasts improved acceleration from standstill, enhancing its quickness in urban settings.

Fuel Economy and Range

• The 330i is known for its commendable fuel economy, achieving around 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
• The 330e, with its hybrid configuration, extends efficiency further. It offers around 75 MPGe when running in electric mode and achieves an estimated 28 mpg in combined gas-electric mode.
• The 330e also provides an all-electric range of roughly 22 miles, making it ideal for short commutes on electric power alone.

Driving Dynamics

• Both the 330i and 330e utilize an 8-speed automatic transmission that ensures smooth and quick gear changes.
• The 330i’s setup emphasizes a traditional sporty feel, combining precise handling with a well-balanced chassis, a hallmark of BMW's performance engineering.
• Meanwhile, the 330e's hybrid system adds a layer of complexity but also versatility. It offers distinct driving modes, including a pure electric mode, a balanced hybrid mode, and a sport setting that maximizes both the engine and electric motor for peak performance.

Weight and Handling

• Due to the additional components of its hybrid system, the 330e carries more weight compared to the 330i. This extra weight can slightly affect handling dynamics, making the vehicle feel a bit heavier in sharp turns.
• The 330i, being lighter, generally provides a more nimble and agile handling experience, particularly appreciated during spirited driving.

Overall Experience

• The 330i is tailored for drivers seeking a straightforward, performance-oriented sedan with strong power delivery and exceptional handling.
• The 330e, while offering similar performance attributes, caters to those looking for enhanced efficiency and the novelty of driving modes provided by the hybrid system. Its ability to operate on electric power alone is an added benefit for environmentally conscious drivers.
