Programming a New Key Fob for a 2015 Ford Escape
Step 1: Gather Your Tools
- Two existing, working key fobs (if you only have one, you may need to visit a dealership or a professional automotive locksmith, as special tools may be required).
- The new unprogrammed key fob.
- Your 2015 Ford Escape.
Step 2: Enter the Programming Mode
- Sit in the driver's seat and close all the doors securely.
- Insert the first working key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
- Turn the key to the "Off" position and remove it from the ignition.
- Within 10 seconds, insert the second working key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position.
- Turn the key to the "Off" position and remove it from the ignition.
- Within 8 seconds of removing the second key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position.
Step 3: Finalize the Programming
- Leave the new key in the "On" position for at least 6 seconds until the security light on the dashboard turns off. This indicates that the new key has been successfully programmed.
- Turn the key to the "Off" position and remove it from the ignition.
Step 4: Test the New Key Fob
- Test the new key fob by using it to start the engine and operate the door locks.
- If the key fob does not work, repeat the steps above or consult your owner's manual for further instructions.
Additional Tips
- Keep all key fobs away from each other during the programming process to prevent signal interference.
- If you have trouble programming your new key fob, contact your local Ford dealership or a certified locksmith for assistance.
